Borehole test pumping
Borehole test pumping records provide the operating water levels and measured discharge needed for pump selection. Ask the driller for the full interpreted report, including water-level and recovery information. A statement that the borehole “has water” is not enough to choose equipment for a home, farm or community supply.
Borehole test pumping: use the operating water level
Depth alone does not show how much water a borehole can provide. Test-pumping records describe the response under the test conditions and support a professional assessment of operating limits. Ask for the interpreted report and source measurements rather than relying on an informal statement that the hole has water.
Give the pump designer the complete report
Useful records include discharge observations, water-level response and recovery information relevant to the test. The designer needs the interpreted findings and any limitations. Where records are old or the source has changed, discuss whether updated assessment is needed. Avoid selecting a pump from a single unexplained flow figure.
Borehole test pumping: choose a supported design duty
Compare the recommended abstraction arrangement with the water requirement and storage plan. If demand exceeds what the source can support, revise the operating strategy before buying a larger pump. A pumping schedule, additional storage or demand reduction may be more appropriate than increasing instantaneous discharge.
Keep test and commissioning records separate
A source test informs the design, while commissioning checks the installed system against its agreed basis. Keep both records. They answer different questions and help later fault diagnosis. Verify current water-use and reporting requirements with WRA for the actual project; an equipment purchase does not itself establish authority to abstract water.
Borehole test pumping records for a selection quotation
A pumping test informs the source assessment; commissioning checks the installed pumping system. You need the relevant records for both. Share the intended daily use and storage plan with the test information. Where an old report no longer represents the source, further assessment may be required. Agree the field-test duration, equipment, discharge arrangements and report before booking. For applicable water-use conditions and official requirements, use Water Resources Authority guidance rather than treating an equipment purchase as permission to abstract.
What to send for a quotation
- Full interpreted pumping-test report
- Current water demand
- Proposed operating schedule
- Relevant permit conditions
Include your county, nearest town and location pin. Send the borehole report or clear equipment-label photos where available. If you do not have a report or measurement, let us know so the assessment can be included.
Tell us whether you need equipment supply only, installation, a solar conversion or a repair. We will help identify the next step and prepare an itemised quotation for the agreed work.
