Controls · Kenya
This guide helps you plan controls for a Kenyan borehole project. Use the questions below to compare proposals, collect the right site information and decide what to request before committing to equipment or work.
Start with the equipment it controls
Identify the motor, power source and intended control behaviour. A solar controller, motor starter and variable-frequency drive are not automatically interchangeable. Ask the supplier to match the proposed controller to the full application. Keep the motor and controller documentation together so ratings and settings can be checked.
Define the protection and level controls
Ask which protections are included and which external sensors or switches are required. Establish the intended response to low source water, a full tank and a power interruption. The presence of a controller does not prove every protective function is fitted or enabled. Commission the agreed behaviour rather than relying on a label.
Plan the installation environment
Locate controls where authorised operators can inspect them and technicians can service them. The enclosure and installation must suit site conditions. Include cable routes, isolation and relevant protective arrangements in the electrical scope. Avoid placing equipment where routine leaks, flooding or unauthorised access will undermine the installation.
Retain the settings and fault guide
Record final settings, model identity and normal display indications at handover. Give the operator a procedure for recording and reporting faults. Do not encourage bypassing protection or repeated resetting. If the pump or power arrangement changes later, have the controller selection and settings reviewed.
Your enquiry checklist
- Motor and power-source details
- Required tank and source-water control
- Included sensors and protection
- Handover settings and fault procedure
Send these details with your Kenyan site location. If a report or measurement is unavailable, say so in the enquiry so the missing assessment can be included in the scope.
